Land Rover sells one millionth Range Rover Sport

Jaguar Land Rover has sold its one millionth Range Rover Sport,16 years after the popular model was launched. The low-slung SUV sits below the standard Range Rover in the line-up, and above the Range Rover Velar and entry-level Range Rover Evoque. The Range Rover Sport made its debut in 2005, and was based on the Range Stormer concept released a year prior (below). The second-generation variant – currently in production – came onto the market in 2013, and underwent a facelift in 2018.

The fully electric Volkswagen Kombi of the future is a step closer to reality, with spy photos out of Germany revealing an early test mule disguised as a regular Volkswagen Transporter van. Exclusive photos published by global motoring website motor1.com (shown with the Motor1 watermarks below) show a Volkswagen Transporter on a trailer being towed by a Volkswagen Touareg.

Electric Jeep Wrangler concept confirmed for March/April unveiling

The iconic 2021 Jeep Wrangler four-wheel-drive looks set to go electric. The American brand has teased a zero-emissions, all-electric Wrangler concept car, set to be unveiled in full as part of the Easter Jeep Safari event in Moab, Utah from 27 March to 4 April.

2021 Citroen C3 price and specs

The 2021 Citroen C3 has been updated for the new year, offering a number of new features together with a refreshed design. Nearly a year after Citroen unveiled the updated look, the facelifted C3 has arrived in Australia, with a revised front grille and bumper, together with LED headlights and daytime-running lights. The model's distinctive 'Airbumps' – the dark plastic cladding fitted to the lower door panels – have been redesigned with a new pattern, echoed throughout the exterior.

Ford to invest $27 billion in electric and autonomous tech development

Ford will invest US$22 billion (AU$28 billion) in electric vehicle development by 2025, the US manufacturer has announced. In a statement following the release of the brand's fourth-quarter 2020 earnings report, it was also confirmed that a further US$7 billion (AU$9.2 billion) would be spent on expanding autonomous vehicle technologies.

2021 Mahindra Thar spotted testing in Australia

The 2021 Mahindra Thar has been spied undergoing testing on Australian roads. Mahindra's new Thar was officially unveiled in August 2020, revealing a design which shared more than a passing resemblance to the Jeep TJ Wrangler. The Indian car maker is hoping the new Thar will enjoy some of the runaway success of the Suzuki Jimny, with the short-wheelbase SUV offering real off-road capability thanks to its part-time four-wheel drive, low-range gearbox, and rear differential lock.

Speeding fines triple in NSW after warning signs removed from mobile speed cameras – report

Revenue from speeding fines in NSW has more than tripled since the state government announced it would removing warning signs from mobile speed detection cameras late last year. A report by 9News has revealed that in December 2020, the state’s coffers were topped up by almost $2.5 million in speeding fines, which have tripled since the phase-out of warning signs.
