Hybrid sales went through the roof in April 2020

Sales of petrol-electric hybrid vehicles skyrocketed in April 2020, even though it was the weakest month in 26 years and the sharpest decline since records began in 1991. The Toyota RAV4 Hybrid appears to have been the driving force behind the unprecedented growth rate of all hybrid vehicles by 64.1 per cent (from 1711 to 2809) in April 2020 versus the same month last year.

2021 Genesis G70 facelift caught on camera

The Genesis G70 has only been on sale in Australia for 12 months – via one dealership, in Sydney, for now – however Hyundai’s luxury division is already working on a facelift. An updated version of the Genesis G70 is due in local showrooms either late this year or early next – about midway through the car’s five-year model cycle.

Lamborghini RAV4? Ferrari Prius? Toyotas transformed into Italian look-a-likes

They say imitation is the ultimate form of flattery, though we're not sure what Italian supercar makers Ferrari and Lamborghini would make of this lot. General Motors Holden responds to threats of legal action

US car giant General Motors has hit back at claims its compensation offer to Holden dealers over the shutdown of the brand is unfair – and says accusations of unconscionable and misleading conduct are “baseless”, “plainly wrong”, and “unsupported by fact or law”. Holden dealers were initially offered by General Motors compensation equivalent to $1500 per new car sold over a set period of time – in addition to funding for recent showroom upgrades and other associated costs.

Surprise winners in April 2020: not all car sales went backwards in record low month

Sales of US-style Ram pick-ups increased in April 2020 as the rest of the car market slammed the brakes due to coronavirus lockdowns. Industry analysts believe the Federal Government’s $150,000 instant asset write-off is behind the surge, which saw Ram pick-up sales increase by 14.1 per cent in April (from 156 to 178) in a market that was down by 48.5 per cent.
