2020 Volkswagen Golf pricing and specs

Volkswagen Australia has announced details of the 2020 Golf line-up, which now sees the entire range advertised with drive-away pricing. Prices start at $24,990 drive-away for the entry-level 110TSI Trendline manual, and climb to $57,990 drive-away for the flagship Golf R wagon. In between there’s Comfortline, Highline, Alltrack and GTI models, too, though the diesel Highline and Alltrack Premium models have been dropped.

2021 Jaguar F-Type facelift spied

Both the updated Jaguar F-Type coupe and convertible have been spied undergoing testing on the Nurburgring Nordschleife. Even with their bodies covered from head to toe in camouflage, it's clear the revised F-Type will share the platform and most of its body panels with today's model, which debuted in production form back in 2012.

Bentley Continental GT sets new Pikes Peak production car record

A Bentley Continental GT has set a new Time Attack 2 production car record during the 2019 Pikes Peak International Hill Climb in Colorado. With Rhys Millen in the driver's seat, the Continental GT finished the 20 kilometre hill climb in 10 minutes 18.488 seconds. The new time is over eight seconds faster than the previous record of 10 minutes 26.896 seconds, which was set in 2015 by David Donner in a 2014 Porsche 911 Turbo S.

New electric cars must be fitted with a sound generator in Europe

From today, all new electrified car models launched in the European Union will need to be fitted with an Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS). According to the union's regulations, the system must make noise similar to an internal combustion engine at speeds below 19km/h in both forward and reverse. AVAS must be fitted to all four-wheel vehicles capable of moving without an internal combustion engine running, meaning basically all hybrid, plug-in hybrid and electric cars.
